Kymberlynne
sits in Café Tropical with a tequila sunrise in front of her. Her mind
is racing over the fact that she heard her sister, Orvilla, reveal to Arrow that
their plan was working perfectly. This happened right before Kymberlynne got the
phone call about Lyzz's car accident; she has been so focused on her daughter
coming out of her coma that she hasn't been able to think about what plan her
sister could have been talking about, but she knows that she must figure it out
before Orvilla does something that they can't go back from. She knows all too
well that her sister has a had a history of doing outlandish things if she doesn't
get her way.
"What are you up too now, Orvilla?" Kymberlynne
asks herself before she takes a sip of her drink. "And why do I think that
you're up to something?"
"Kymberlynne, hi," Carson says
as he approaches her table, which is in the corner of the Café. "How
are things with Lyzz?"
"No change," Kymberlynne replies
to him as he sits across from her. "She is still in her coma, and the doctor's
don't know why because they thought that she would have woken up by now."
"I am so sorry Kymberlynne," Carson whispers back to her. "I
wish that there was something that I could do to help you with this, something
I could do to bring Lyzz back to you."
"You really mean that,
don't you?"
"Of course, I do," Carson smiles back to her.
"I know why you've pushed me away all these years, but I still care about
you, a great deal."
Kymberlynne forces a smile on her face. "I
know you do and you know why we have to keep up appearances, Carson."
"That doesn't mean that I'm not thrilled to see you, Kymberlynne, because
I am. You coming back to the Barracuda Blue is the best thing that has happened
to me in a very long time," Carson looks back at her. "You know that
I will do anything for you, right?"
"Then you can help me with
something," Kymberlynne looks back at him with intent.
Carson arches
his eyebrow back to her. "What is it? What can I do?"
Kymberlynne
looks around the Café to ensure that Arrow or Orvilla are not near them;
the last thing she needs is for one of them to find out what she heard.
"It
is my sister," Kymberlynne reveals to him when she realizes that the coast
is clear. "I think she's up to something, and I have to figure out what it
is before it's too late. Can you help me uncover her secret? Can you help me stop
Orvilla?"
"I'll do whatever I can," Carson nods back together.
"Don't worry; we will figure this out, and we will do it, together."
/\/\/\
Orvilla moves to the bar in her office on the third floor of
the Barracuda Blue and pours herself a cup of coffee, which she takes a drink
of immediately. She thinks that her plan to stay in charge of Meccanica, and the
Barracuda Blue, is going wonderfully. She has, essentially, removed the Thornton
children from having the ability to become the CEO of the company. By lacing Lyzz's
drugs with fentanyl, she got into a car accident and has been rendered to a coma.
On top of this, Orvilla and Arrow learned about Chloe's sorted past with Lyzz
and blackmailed the front desk clerk into drugging Lyzz to ensure she stays in
her coma.
Orvilla, also, convinced Arrow to get his partner, Leaf, to
seduce Liam, the middle Thornton child. What Leaf and Liam didn't realize, however,
was that their sexual act was filmed. Orvilla leaked some of the images to a tabloid,
which has left Liam gutted. The public scandal will surely rule him out from becoming
the CEO, Orvilla realizes.
The final sibling, Rachelle, is also involved
in a scandal with her school. Orvilla knew that Rachelle was a straight A student,
which is why she uncovered a secret from her art history professor, Malcolm Summer',
past where he slept with a student, despite being married. She blackmailed him
into framing Rachelle, and her co-student Nat Meadows, by claiming that they plagiarized
their final papers. As a result, both have been expelled from the school, which
means Rachelle will not graduate. As a result, Rachelle will not be able to become
the CEO of Meccanica.
"Everything I've done," she whispers to
herself before she takes another sip of her coffee. "I've done because this
company, I belong in the CEO seat. The original idea of the of Meccanica and the
Barracuda Blue was mine; Samuel, he took the idea and ran with it, and he left
me out of all the decisions. Which is why after he died, I pushed Kymberlynne
to leave Maui and the Barracuda Blue; I wanted this company and I will not stop
until I get it, permanently."
She takes another sip of her coffee.
"Everything I've done is because I belong to be in this CEO seat, and I will
not stop until no one way can ever take it away from me."
/\/\/\
Kymberlynne moves into the living room of the Thornton mansion and makes a
beeline for the bar. After talking with Carson, she came home to try to think
of a way to uncover whatever Orvilla's plan is. She knows her sister far too well
to know that if Orvilla claimed that she has a plan, she must be up to no good.
She pours herself a vodka and takes a sip of it, wondering what her sister
could be up too. As she turns, she happens to see a picture of herself, Samuel,
and their children from many years ago. She picks up the frame from the bookshelf
and looks at it.
The picture is of the family on their yacht. She knows
that Samuel loved being on the water on the boat; so much so, it is where he was
killed during a windstorm. As she looks at the picture, she realizes that everyone
looks so happy. This wasn't always the case, she knows because of how busy Samuel
got once Meccanica launched and the resorts, including the Barracuda Blue, became
increasingly popular.
"This is why I turned to Carson in the first
place," she tells Samuel in the picture. "You were so busy with Meccanica
and the Barracuda Blue that I barely saw you; sometimes days, weeks would go by
without even kissing you. You would be gone when I woke up in the morning and
get home after I had gone to bed; I was in my prime, Samuel; I still had needs,
and Carson, my God, he was able to help me in that area. He was a great lover,
I know you don't want to hear that, but it's true. But at the end of the day,
despite my physical attraction to him, my heart always belonged to you. You were
the love of my life."
She places the picture back on the bookshelf
and takes a sip of her vodka. "So much time has gone by," she looks
at Samuel in the picture. "And yet, I miss you as if you had just left me.
And with your strength, I will find out what Orvilla is up too. I don't have any
other choice; if my sister is doing something that could hurt Meccanica, I will
stop her; Even if it is the last thing that I do."
/\/\/\
A
short time later, Kymberlynne hears the housekeeper of the Thornton mansion, Sonya,
come into the living room as she is about to pour herself another glass of vodka.
"Sorry to interrupt," Sonya announces to her employer. "But
there is a Mr. Carson McGuire is here to see you."
"Thank you,
Sonya," Kymberlynne replies to her before she turns and sees Carson enter
the room. "Carson, what brings you by?"
"I wanted to come
by and see if you've had any ideas on uncovering what Orvilla's plan could possibly
be?" Carson informs her quickly.
"I haven't no," Kymberlynne
admits to him. "I mean, for all I know, it could just be some new business
plan that she has for the Barracuda Blue. I can't place it, Carson, it's just
something in the tone of her voice when she said it that makes me think that she
is up to no good."
Carson reaches over and grabs his former lovers
hand. "Like you at the Barracuda Blue, I am here for you, Kymberlynne. Whatever
I can do to help you, I will do it."
/\/\/\
"I haven't
had the heart to go through Lyzz's belongings that were in her SUV when it crashed,"
Kymberlynne sighs as she opens the door to her daughter's room and she moves inside
with Carson following her. "I am not expecting this to give us any indication
of what Orvilla's plan is but I have put it off long enough."
"It
is understandable that it would be a challenge for you to go through Lyzz's things
considering she is in a coma," Carson comes up behind her. "But I think
you're doing the right thing by going through them, Kymberlynne. It might help
you feel closer to Lyzz while she remains comatose."
"I
I
hope so," Kymberlynne moves closer to the bed, where there is a box of Lyzz's
belongings. She opens the box and pulls out a hoodie that was in the back of the
vehicle. The clothing that Lyzz was wearing was destroyed by the paramedics as
they had to cut it off her when they found her. Kymberlynne pulls the hoodie to
her nose and smells it; the smell of her daughter fills her nostrils and she tries
to control her emotions.
"It is okay Kymberlynne," Carson comes
up behind her and puts his hands on her shoulders. "Lyzz will come back to
you, I have faith in that."
"That's what I am praying for,"
she replies to him as she looks into the box and sees her daughter's cell phone.
She picks it up and looks at the IPhone that has a new message on the screen.
"Look at this," Kymberlynne tells Carson, who looks at the screen.
"Do you need more snow?" Carson reads the message. "It's coming
from Darryl Westin."
"That name," Kymberlynne taps the
screen of the IPhone with her manicured nail. "It sounds familiar, but I
can't place why."
"He went to school with Lyzz and Chloe I believe,"
Carson informs her. "He has been a known dealer on the island for a while;
there just hasn't been enough evidence to put him away."
"He's
the son of a bitch that gave my daughter the drugs," Kymberlynne turns to
look at Carson. "I want to find him to give him a piece of my mind and to
ensure that he never, ever, contacts any member of my family again."
/\/\/\
The following day, Carson drives his Mercedes into the parking
lot of the marina. It is a crystal-clear day outside and the sun is beating down.
He looks over at Kymberlynne, who is sitting next to him while wearing large Chanel
sunglasses.
"Are you sure that you want to do this?" he asks
her as he parks the car in an open parking spot. "It's not too late to turn
around and head back to the Barracuda Blue."
"And let Darryl
Westin continue to text my daughter so he can sell her more drugs?" Kymberlynne
asks him quickly with a huff. "No, not on my watch! I will not let this piece
of trash hurt my daughter!"
They exit the vehicle as Carson uneasily
nods back to her. "I'm pretty sure he hangs out behind the small office,"
Carson tells her as they start to make their way towards dwelling that rests on
the base of the marina.
They arrive at the office and move to the backside,
where they do see Darryl leaning up against the wall. Kymberlynne makes a beeline
for the younger man.
"Are you Darryl Westin?" she asks him as
Darryl looks over as he exhales a cloud of smoke from the cigarette he is smoking.
"Who is asking?" he asks her quickly as she moves closer to him.
"Kymberlynne Thornton," she tells him. "I'd say nice to meet
you, but I would be lying."
"Thornton?" Darryl asks her
with an arched eyebrow. "You must be Lyzzy's mama?"
"That's
right, I am," Kymberlynne replies to him. "I know that you've been selling
my daughter drugs, and I'm here to tell you that you're messing with the wrong
family. If you ever contact my daughter again, I will see to it that you're away
for many, many years. Do I make myself clear?"
Darryl chuckles back
to her. "Loud and clear," he tells her. "But for the record, Lyzz,
she called me for the snow, not the other way around. So if you're pissed at anyone,
it should be your daughter. Or
"
"Or? Or who else is involved
in this?"
"I said too much."
"You're not going
to stop now," Kymberlynne moves closer to him. "Tell me what is going
on?"
"Someone else told me to lace her snow with fentanyl, okay?"
Darryl hisses back at her. "I was just taking another pay cheque."
"Who? Who told you to lace my daugher's drugs with a more lethal drug?"
she demands to know.
"Orvilla," Darryl whispers back to her
as Kymberlynne gasps back at him in shock.
"I'm going to say this
to you one more time," Kymberlynne glares back at him. "If you ever
contact any member of my family, you are going to live to regret it, do you understand
me? Do you? Answer me!" she shrieks at him.
"I get it!"
Darryl yells back at her. "Now back the fuck off before you get what's coming
to you!"
"Okay, okay," Carson steps in the middle of the
two of them. "Come on Kym, we got what we wanted from this loser."
"You remember what I said," Kymberlynne points her finger at Darryl.
"Never again do you communicate with my family! Never again!"
/\/\/\
"That lousy son of a bitch," Kymberlynne slams the door to Carson's
SUV closed as they get back into the vehicle, fresh from seeing Darryl. "I
can't believe that he gave my daughter drugs that were laced with fentanyl! And
to think, Orvilla put him up to that? What the hell was my sister thinking?"
"I wish I knew," Carson looks back at her, trying to keep his calm
since he can see that Kymberlynne is upset enough for both of them.
"Well,
I have to take action! I can't let Orvilla get away with this!"
"What
are you doing?" Carson asks her as she pulls out her cell phone from her
purse.
"I'm calling the police," Kymberlynne looks back at him.
"I want my sister to pay for what she has done."
"No,"
Carson stops her quickly. "Don't you see? This could be part of Orvilla's
plan! This could help us uncover what she is really after."
Kymberlynne
looks back at him in surprise. "You think drugging Lyzz was a part of her
plan? What goal would she be accomplishing by drugging Lyzz?"
Carson
arches his eyebrow back to her as the wheels in his head start to turn. "I
think I figured this out," he looks at her with a twinkle in his eye. "This
has to do with Mecannica," he tells her. "She wants to stay CEO, so
she is trying to remove your children from becoming the new leader," he says
as Kymberlynne gasps out loud. "Don't you see? That's why Lyzz was drugged;
Liam is involved in the sex scandal with Leaf, and Rachelle, she was expelled
from school."
"Do you really believe that my sister is behind
all of this?"
"There's only one way to find out," Carson
tells her. "We have to dig until we find the truth; this could be the only
way to save your family."
/\/\/\
The following morning, Carson
is announced by Sonya, which causes Kymberlynne to turn to face her former lover,
with a cup of coffee in her hand.
"This is my third cup this morning,"
Kymberlynne chuckles to him. "I barely slept a wink last night, thinking
about your theory about Orvilla."
"I was pretty restless as
well," Carson looks back at her. "You were on my mind a lot, Kymberlynne."
"Carson," she shakes her head back to him. "We can't go back
we
have to stay focused."
"I know," Carson shrugs his shoulders
to her. "But I am still a man, and I still find you captivating. But I will
refrain myself because I know that you're thinking about Orvilla and your family."
"Your damn straight I am," Kymberlynne replies to him quickly. "Which
is why I've already made a power move this morning."
Carson arches
his eyebrow back to her. "Please tell me that you didn't confront your sister?"
"No, of course not," Kymberlynne looks back at him. "I agree
with you that I need to have all my ducks in a row before I do that. But, I did
buy the Hawaiian Hacker; the tabloid that exposed Liam and Leaf's affair is now
in my possession."
"Wow, that was a bold move."
Kymberlynne
chuckles back to him. "The source of the article couldn't be found, yet,
but I am determined to find out who leaked that information because if I can connect
it back to Orvilla, it will be more proof that my sister is scheming to keep Meccanica
for herself."
"Where are you going?" Carson asks her as
she moves to the doorway of the living, grabbing her purse in the process.
"I'm going to the Barracuda Blue," she tells him. "I have to
tell Liam what I've done. I have to tell my son that I'm going to make whoever
did this to him pay."
/\/\/\
At Café Tropical, Kymberlynne
sits next to Liam, who is finishing his breakfast. His morning is free as he doesn't
have a tennis practice today. He and Leaf agreed to pause training until they
have sorted out the tabloid exposing their affair issues.
"I know
I'm not your favorite person right now," Kymberlynne tells her son, as Marco
moves closer to the door from the pool. He stops himself from entering as he doesn't
want to interrupt the mother-son conversation, but he finds himself listening
in on what they are saying. "But I wanted you to hear it from me that I bought
the Hawaiian Hacker, Liam. I am determined to make this right for you."
"You did what?" Liam asks her in surprise. "Why on earth would
you do that? This
this will make me look even more guilty!"
"My
hope is that I will be able to locate the person or persons that leaked the information,"
Kymberlynne reveals to him. "If we can find out who was behind this, we might
understand their motive and try to stop them from hurting you again, Liam. Buying
the tabloid was the first step in doing that."
"That makes sense,"
Liam finds himself agreeing with his mother. "So, did you find out who the
source is?"
"Not yet," Kymberlynne shakes her head, as
Marco leaves the doorway, wondering if he, somehow, could find the source. That
might be his way to get into Liam's good graces, he realizes. "But I am not
giving up Liam, I am going to make this right before too much damage is done."
Liam sighs back to her. "I know what you're trying to do, but if I am
honest with you, I believe that the damage has already been done."
Meanwhile,
Marco makes a beeline towards his car in the parking lot. Kelvin, who is pushing
the luggage cart back towards the front door of the Barracuda Blue, sees him and
arches his eyebrow. He wonders what the man that he has feelings for is up too,
so he finds himself moving up to him.
"Where the fire?" Kelvin
asks him quickly.
"I
I just learned something and was thinking
I might be able to help," Marco admits to him.
"What is it?
Do you want me to help you?"
Marco looks back at him for a second
and realizes that a second set of eyes and ears might not be a bad idea, so he
nods his head. "Sure," Marco smiles back to him. "Here's what I
learned
."
/\/\/\
A few hours later, Kymberlynne and
Carson are moving through the hallways of Belview Academy as they wanted to come
and visit Malcolm Summers. After they realized that Orvilla might be behind Lyzz's
drugging and Liam's affair being exposed, they wondered if she was also behind
Rachelle getting expelled from school, which is why they travelled to the big
island to confront her professor.
"Are you sure you want to reveal
all of our cards right now?" Kymberlynne stops and asks Carson as they arrive
at Malcolm's office door.
"We only have one chance to learn the truth,"
he replies to her. "I think we have to just go for it if we want Malcolm
to tell us what he knows."
"You're right," Kymberlynne
sighs. "We've come too far now to hold back on this investigation."
"Let's go," Carson tells her as he moves to the office door, knocks,
and then enters the office, causing Malcolm to look up from some papers on his
desk.
"May I help you?" Malcolm asks as he slowly stands from
his desk concerned about why some strangers have arrived at his office.
"I'm
Kymberlynne Thornton, Rachelle's mother," she tells him as she extends her
hand to shake Malcolm's hand. "And this is my friend, Carson."
"Ah,
Malcolm nods back to her. "I am guessing that this visit is because of Rachelle
getting expelled?"
"That is correct," Carson nods back
to him. "We are going to cut to the chase here, Mr. Summers. I
I happen
to know about your past."
Malcolm arches his eyebrow back to him.
"And what past is that?"
"That you cheated on your wife
with one of your students a few years ago," Carson admits to him. "Don't
worry, we aren't here to use that against you. We are just curious as to if someone
else is using that information against you."
"Carson is correct,"
Kymberlynne agrees with him. "If someone is blackmailing you into incriminating
my daughter in this scandal, I want to know. Rachelle, she's a good girl, she
wouldn't have cheated on her term paper."
"I
I
"
Malcolm stutters as he feels his heart start to race in his chest.
"I
will protect from anything and anyone," Kymberlynne looks back at him with
desperation. "I promise you that; nothing bad will happen to you if you tell
me the truth, Mr. Summers. Just tell me
who put you up to this? Who is trying
to ruin my daughter's future?"
/\/\/\
Later that evening,
Kymberlynne sits at a table in Café Tropical with a champagne cocktail
in front of her. Her mind is racing over the recent events that have transpired.
She is having a hard time reconciling with the fact that Orvilla, her sister,
has been scheming and plotting against her and her family.
"You look
a million miles away," Carson says as he moves up to her table and sits across
from her. "You're thinking about everything we've uncovered?"
"How
could I not be?" Kymberlynne asks him quickly. "It's time, it's time
for me to expose Orvilla once and for all."
"What are you going
to do?"
Kymberlynne chuckles back to him. "Leave it to me; I'm
going to do something that my dearest sister will never see coming," she
reveals to him as she gets a twinkle in her eye.
/\/\/\
After
she finished her champagne cocktail, Kymberlynne headed upstairs to the third
level of the Barracuda Blue. She knows that Orvilla is still working and she had
to see her sister; while she knows that she can't reveal all her cards yet, she
does want her sister to squirm just a little.
"I was downstairs having
a cocktail and thought I'd come in and see you," Kymberlynne announces to
Orvilla as she moves into the office. "I, somehow, knew that you'd be burning
the midnight oil."
"There are always a million things on my
to-do list," Orvilla barely looks up from her laptop to look at Kymberlynne.
"Part of the joys of being the CEO of Meccanica."
Kymberlynne
forces herself to not roll her eyes at the comment about the company. "Well,
I come barely some good news."
"Oh?" Orvilla looks up having
her interest peaked. "What is this good news?"
"I'm throwing
a gala, here at the Barracuda Blue!"
"A gala? What on earth
for?" Orvilla asks her quickly. "In case you forgotten, the last time
we threw a large party here, Lyzz's fiancé, and many others, were gunned
down by some kidnapers!"
Kymberlynne chuckles back to her. "Trust
me, you'll love this, my dearest sister. The Barracuda Blue's anniversary is coming
up; we will have been opened for 10 years! I
I want to do something special
to celebrate the occasion. I think Samuel would have wanted that."
Orvilla
finds herself smiling at the idea. "A gala for honor the resort, I like that
idea Kymberlynne."
"Good," Kymberlynne winks back to her.
"Because I plan on making you the guest of honor; our dear CEO should be
celebrated that night, don't you think?"
Orvilla chuckles back to
her. "I don't know
"
"I won't hear another word about
it," Kymberlynne cuts her off. "I am planning this gala, and you've
been warned. It will be a night you'll never forget, I promise you that."
