Celeste Rockwell moves into the living room of the Rockwell mansion and walks
over to the bar, to pour herself a glass of water. She hasn't heard anything from
Mac Rockwell, or any member of the family, about an update on Stacey Rockwell's
condition, so she is assuming that there is no update. She hates that her husband's
daughter is still in a coma; she would like nothing more than for Stacey to wake
up so the family can start to put this behind them and they can start to focus
on her unborn baby. If she wasn't pregnant, her drink would be stiffer than just
water.
"I just hope that Stacey wakes up sooner rather than later,"
she whispers to herself before she takes a sip of her water.
"Are
you talking to yourself?" a voice calls from the doorway of the living room.
Celeste turns around and spots Lucinda Rockwell standing there, clutching
a purse with a large diamond ring on her finger. "Oh, Lucinda, I didn't hear
Ingrid let you in. How are you?"
"I just came from the hospital,"
Lucinda reveals to her, as the elder Rockwell moves to the bar and pours herself
a brandy. Lucinda needs a drink after what she just heard at the hospital.
"How is Stacey? I was there earlier but I felt tired so I came home."
"Ah, yes," Lucinda sighs before she takes a sip of the brandy.
"Because of the baby? It's good that you're getting your rest."
Celeste nods back to her. "Yes, I want to do everything I can to ensure
that my baby is healthy."
"Mac seems thrilled about the pregnancy,"
Lucinda reveals to her as she turns to face her daughter in law. "Do you
remember the day of your wedding? I told you that I would be on your side as long
as you made my son happy."
"I remember, yes," Celeste
replies to her quickly. "Mac is thrilled that we are going to be parents."
Lucinda arches her eyebrow and moves closer to Celeste. "You don't have
to play games with me," she whispers to Celeste. "I know the truth."
"And, what truth would that be?" Celeste asks her, confused by
what Lucinda is talking about. "Mac and I couldn't be happier."
"You see, Celeste," Lucinda begins to reply to her. "I was
at the hospital and Cole was visiting Stacey," she continues to share her
story. "And my grandson was telling his sister some of his fears."
"I'm not sure what you're getting at, Lucinda," Celeste admits
to her, as she shrugs her shoulders. "What are you trying to tell me?"
"I overheard Cole reveal that he could be the father of that baby you're
carrying," Lucinda reveals to her as Celeste's mouth opens in surprise. "Now,
I warned about hurting my son. You've done that the moment you slept with my Grandson,
your husband's son. But, you better hope that baby is Mac's, because if Cole is
the father, this family will never be the same. Do you know what this news would
do to my son? How could you be so stupid and reckless?"
A tear falls
down Celeste's cheek as she covers her mouth, trying to be strong in front of
the intimidating woman. "I never meant for any of this to happen, I swear
to you Lucinda."
"No, of course not," Lucinda rolls her
eyes. "People never expect these things to happen. But the truth is, you
slept with Cole behind MacKenzie's back. And now you're pregnant."
"Cole and I, we were only together once. Mac has to be the father of this
baby," Celeste informs her. "Cole knows this. I've told him this. We
are putting that night behind us; it was a mistake. Tell me you believe me, Lucinda!
Please, tell me!"
Lucinda comes up to her and looks her in the eyes.
"This baby has got to be MacKenzie's," she whispers back to Celeste.
"Anything else is unacceptable, do understand me?"
Celeste
uneasily nods back to Lucinda. "And, now," Lucinda continues. "I
have to watch your every move. I truly detest when women prove that I can't trust
them."

"You've barely
said two words over from the cemetery," Kent Blackmore tells Lydia Rockwell
as they are seated at a table at the country club. Kent recalls how Lydia found
him at Houston's gravesite and he told her that he wants to have his other son
in his life; of course, he knows that would mean the truth would have to come
out: Lex Rockwell is really Kent's son, not Mac's. He also knows that Lydia is
likely to be strongly opposed since they've been keeping this secret for years.
"I guess I have a lot on my mind," Lydia admits to him before she
orders a glass of rose. "Everything has been happening so quickly. Stacey's
accident, Houston's death, our engagement
."
"Our world
has been spinning pretty fast lately," Kent agrees with her. "I just
hope you know that I meant what I said earlier. I've already lost one son."
"I know," she waves her hand to him, not wanting to rehash the
conversation. "You just have to understand where I am coming from. You having
this desire to have another son in your life, it could change everything for everyone."
"And we are all adults," he tells her, trying to get her to see
his point of view. "Everyone will be able to understand what happened all
those years ago."
Before Lydia can reply, Vivian Blackmore walks
up to their table and immediate notices the tension between the newly engaged
couple. "Well, well, well," Vivian purses her lips together. "Have
I interrupted something? Is there trouble in paradise?"
"Not
now Vivian," Lydia barks at her, not wanting to deal with Kent's ex-wife.
"We were trying to have a nice dinner together."
Vivian lets
out a small chuckle, clearly hitting a nerve. "I see," she replies.
"Well, let me say this to you. I just lost my son, we just lost our son,"
her eyes shoot over to Kent. "This is not the time for you two to be planning
a wedding. Let us grieve, for crying out loud."
"My wedding
plans are not your concern," Lydia tells her back before she takes a sip
of her wine. "Now, kindly leave us in peace."
"There will
be no wedding," Vivian warns them. "Not now, not ever, you mark my words."

Inside the dining room, Odette
and Jarek Williams sit across from each other, trying to think of the next part
of their plan for Jarek to get closer to Lex Rockwell, so they can get some of
the Rockwell fortune, which they still feel like they are owed.
"So,
basically, you're telling me that Lex still doesn't want you to live with you?"
Odette asks her son, as Jarek has just told him that Lex has postponed revealing
to the Rockwell's that he is gay and in a relationship with him. She had hoped
that things were finally moving in the right direction; in her mind this is a
set back. "How are we moving forward with the plan now?"
Jarek
sighs and looks back to his Mom. "It's just a minor delay," Jarek tells
her. "It's nothing for us to be worried about. Once things calm down for
Lex's family, he will tell them the truth. It's not his fault that his sister
is in a coma. They are all worried sick about her."
"I suppose
that is true," Odette replies to him. "I guess my patience is just wearing
thin."
"Good things come to those who wait," Jarek informs
her, as he reaches over and grabs her hand to give it a quick squeeze. "Don't
worry, Mom, this will happen. Once Stacey wakes up, everything will be back on
track. I promise you, nothing will get in the way of us getting everything that
we want."
"I'm holding you to that," she purses her lips
together. "But just in case something goes wrong with you and Lex, I have
my own plan."
Jarek arches his eyebrow back to her, wondering what
she has up her sleeve. "What are you talking about?"
"Just
call it reassurance," she tells him with a sparkle in her eye, not wanting
to spoil anything. "I won't let this rest, Jarek. I will get what is rightfully
ours, no matter what I have to do."

The next morning, Lydia opens the door to her office at Rockwell Mining and
moves inside, desperate for some peace and quiet after her late evening. She knows
that Kent wants the truth about Lex to come out, but she can't help but be worried
about everyone's reactions, especially Mac and Lex's. She just hopes that after
Kent has had proper time to mourn Houston that this idea will fade away. The idea
of the truth coming out scares her as she knows lives could be ruined.
"Mac and Lex would be absolutely devastated by this truth," she whispers
to herself as she pours herself a brandy and takes a sip as her mind changes to
Vivian Blackmore telling her that she can't marry Kent right now. She shakes her
head in disgust. "That woman has a lot of nerve."
She puts
her drink down when she hears a knock on her office door. "Come in,"
she says as she moves over to her desk and the door opens. A young, attractive
man moves inside the office.
"Lydia Rockwell?" he asks in a
heavy accent as he closes the door behind himself.
"Yes," she
replies to him. "Was my secretary not at her desk?"
"I
advised her that you were expecting me," he flashes a smile back to her.
"My name is Kafelnikov. Marat Kafelnikov."
Lydia gulps as she
looks back at the man whom she just changed the contract with at the Russian mine
so Rockwell Mining will not be giving them 5% of the profits from the diamonds
that are mined there.
"I should have been expecting you Mr. Kafelnikov,"
she tries to keep her cool, even though he has intimidating presence. "However,
my family has been going through a devastating ordeal right now."
"I heard on the news," Marat tells her. "I'm terribly sorry to
hear about your daughter and your fiancé's son."
"Thank
you," she purses her lips together. "Can I offer you a drink?"
"No, thank you," he says back to her. "I am sure you know
why I am here?"
"You heard about the change in the contract?"
she asks him as he nods back to her. "What you have to realize, Mr. Kafelnikov,
is that I am the CEO of Rockwell Mining now and I didn't see the point of having
the 5% profits clause in the contract."
Marat chuckles back to her.
"I see," he tells her. "I'm afraid you are missing the point here,
Mrs. Rockwell," he continues. "One of the main reasons we accepted Mac's
offer was because of the 5% deal on the profits. It was a genius move on his part.
I'm not entirely sure of everything that happened at Rockwell Mining since you
have taken over, but I am not pleased with this change. Not one bit. I expected
you to correct this at once."
Lydia folds her arms across her chest.
"I am truly sorry to hear that, Mr. Kafelnikov," she says as she moves
to the bar and grabs her brandy and she takes a sip of it. "I trust that
once you have worked with me here at the company for a while, you'll see that
Rockwell Mining is still the company that you'd like to do business with. And
if not, I trust that Blackmore Ltd will be able to make you an attractive offer."
"Ah," he sighs back to her. "I wonder how the shareholders
of Rockwell Mining would react to hearing Blackmore Ltd make me an offer on the
mine. It may seem as a conflict of interest."
"That's not for
you to worry about," she tells him. "Are you sure you wouldn't care
for a drink?"
"I'm sure," he waves his hand at her. "I'll
be on my way," he tells her. "Just realize, that this is not how I like
doing business. And, I'll be here to ensure nothing else changes in that contract."
***
Lydia continues to review the file
in front of her on the desk, as she tries to maintain her focus. She knew that
cutting Kafelnikov off was going to be risky but she never expected him to show
up at her office and confront her over it. After all, Kelsey Lake is a long way
from Mirryn, Russia.
"I will not budge," she tells herself.
"And Marat Kafelnikov will have to get use to that."
She looks
at the file in front of her and realizes that she has bigger fish to fry right
now. She can see that Celeste had requested from Mac to have a design division
at Rockwell Mining and he refused due to budgetary concerns. However, Lydia recalls
her last conversation with Cole, where she asked him flat out if he could be the
father of Celeste's child. Cole denied it, but she can't shake the feeling that
something is going on between Celeste and Cole. That is another bomb waiting to
explode and cause the family grief.
"That's why I have to do something,"
Lydia tells herself as she hears a knock on the door. "Yes?"
The door opens and Celeste emerges in the office. "I got your message that
you wanted to see me," Celeste announces as she comes into the office. She
feels her hands sweat out of nervousness. She hopes that Lucinda hasn't revealed
the truth to Lydia because she knows that her marriage could be over. After all,
Lydia would tell Mac just to stick it to her, Celeste realizes.
"Thank
you for coming so quickly," Lydia stands up to greet Celeste.
Celeste
arches her eyebrow. "I wasn't sure what to expect from you," she admits
to Lydia. "I only came out of curiosity, I suppose."
Lydia
chuckles back to her. "I'd offer you a drink, but in your condition
"
"That's fine," Celeste waves her hand. "What did you want
to see me about?"
"As you know, I've taken over Rockwell Mining,"
Lydia announces to her. "And, I was reviewing some files to see what has
been going on with the company. I noticed that you had suggested to MacKenzie
that you open a design division here at Rockwell."
"That's
right," Celeste nods back to her. "Mac told me there wasn't enough capital
right now to move forward."
"I've found the capital,"
Lydia informs her. "And, I think that it's a great idea. I've seen some of
your designs, Celeste, you're a very talented woman."
Celeste feels
her cheeks flush as the last thing she expected was to be complimented by Lydia.
"Thank you, Lydia. I appreciate that."
"So," Lydia
continues to tell her. "I'm willing to open this design division for you."
"Really?" Celeste smiles back to her, still in shock but unable
to hide her excitement.
"Under one condition
" Lydia gets
a grin on her face.
"What would that be?"
"That
you stay away from my son, Cole," Lydia replies to her. "Don't speak
to him. Don't go near him. Stay as far away from him as you possibly can."
Celeste doesn't even think about it, she just nods her head back to Lydia.
"Good, then we have a deal," Lydia extends her hand out to shake
Celeste's. Celeste reaches out and the two women shake on the deal that they've
just made.
***
Lucinda moves up
to the bar in the country club and orders a glass of port. She waits for it and
when it arrives and takes a sip of it. The last 24 hours have been hell with learning
the truth about the affair between Cole and Celeste and then confronting her daughter
in law about the pregnancy. Lucinda only hopes that the baby's father is Mac because
otherwise, she knows that the family will be destroyed.
"I won't
let that woman ruin my family," Lucinda whispers to herself before she takes
another sip of her port.
"Lucinda Rockwell? My, I haven't seen you
in ages," Vivian Blackmore announces as she comes up to the bar and sits
next to Lucinda.
Lucinda rolls her eyes subtly, having never liked Vivian.
"Not nearly long enough," she spits back to her, as Vivian orders herself
a brandy. "What's wrong dear? Having to drink here because you don't have
brandy at home?"
"I don't want to be alone right now,"
Vivian admits to her. "You must have heard about my son."
"Yes,
of course I have," Lucinda recounts to her, suddenly feeling sympathy for
Vivian. "I'm sorry for your loss."
"I doubt that very
much but thank you," Vivian tells her. "After all, your precious Stacey
is still alive."
"Thank God," Lucinda replies to her.
"Look, Vivian. None of us knew what was happening between Houston and Stacey,
but the fact is that they were engaged. I suppose we should try to come together
for this tragedy. We would have been family, after all."
"Come
together?" Vivian chuckles back to her. "You mean, the way Lydia and
Kent are?"
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"You
haven't heard?" Vivian asks her back. "Lydia and Kent just got engaged."
"You're kidding me?" Lucinda asks shocked by the news. "Why
would they do such a thing when Houston just passed away and Stacey is still in
the hospital?"
"I have no idea," Vivian admits to her.
"But I will not let them get married. That is one marriage that will not
take place."
Lucinda uneasily nods back to her. "I could care
less what Lydia does anymore but that woman better not hurt my family anymore.
Because, then, I will care. And then, I would have to go after her with everything
I have."

Mac moves into
the living room of his mansion and immediately pours himself a scotch on the rocks
and he takes a heavy drink of it. He is planning a surprise for Celeste, but before
he can turn his full attention on the surprise, he wants to try to get some work
done. Only, he can work from afar because he isn't at Rockwell Mining right now.
He knows that he has to find a way to get his company back; he can't wait an entire
year until the signed proxy's expire because Lydia could ruin the entire organization
by then.
He moves over to the leather sofa and sits down, picking up
his IPad and checking the stocks on Rockwell Mining. He takes a heavy drink of
his scotch when he sees how low the stocks have fallen since Lydia has taken over.
"She's already leaving her mark on my company," he sighs, his mind
racing about a way that he could get his company back. "I have to do something
and I have to act quickly."
"Dad," Lex says as he comes
into the living room. "I'm glad that you are here. We need to talk."
"Yes, we do," Mac stands up from the sofa. "Do you want a
drink?"
"Yes, I'll have a brandy," Lex tells his father,
as Mac walks over to the bar to pour a drink for his son. "I saw Rockwell
Mining stocks fell today."
Mac passes him a brandy. "Yes, I
was just looking when you walked in," Mac reveals to him. "This is all
Lydia's fault, she's ruining my company. Everything that I worked so damn hard
for could be for nothing if I don't stop that woman!"
"I've
been trying to rack my brain to think of a way to get her out of the company,"
Lex admits to his father. "But, I can't think of anything. She's really covered
her basis this time."
"Has she though?" Mac asks him back.
"There has got to be something we can do to get her out of my company! Rockwell
Mining will not be the same company if we wait an entire year to get it back from
her."
"I couldn't agree more," Lex admits to him . "The
question is, what can we do?"
Before Mac can reply, Ingrid comes
into the living room. "I'm sorry to interrupt you, Mr. Rockwell, but there
is someone here to see you. He said it was urgent."
Mac arches his
eyebrow at his maid. "Who is it?"
"A Mr. Marat Kafelnikov,"
Ingrid replies to him.
Mac looks at Lex in surprise, never thinking that
Marat would arrive in Kelsey Lake. "Yes, let him in."
Within
a few minutes, Marat comes into the living room. "Marat, welcome to my home,"
Mac moves over to shake his hand. "Please come in, can I offer you a drink?"
"Yes, thank you," Marat says back to him. "I will not keep
much of your time, I just wanted to know that I am in the United States as a result
of the change of our contract."
"Yes, I'm sorry about that,"
Mac replies to him as he passes him a brandy. "I recently ran into some difficulty
with Lydia, my ex-wife, taking over control of Rockwell Mining. It's only temporary,
I'm working very hard to get my company back."
"I believe that,"
Marat informs him . "I was at Rockwell Mining today, and I can't believe
what Lydia is capable of."
"You must forgive my mother,"
Lex tries to interject. "She's doing this on purpose. You have to believe
my father and I, once we regain control of the company, you will get your 5% as
we initially promised you."
Marat smiles back to him. "I'd
appreciate that," he replies. "Because, otherwise, I will have to put
the mine back up for another bid when the contract expires. I do not work with
organizations that go back on their word. My father will have none of this!"
"Believe me," Mac tells him as they look into each other's eyes.
"I'm a man of my word. You will get your 5%, Marat."
***
Mac closes the front door after Marat leaves the mansion for the evening.
Mac turns around and spots Celeste walking down the large staircase and immediately
gets a smile on his face at the sight of his pregnant wife.
"I'm
so glad you're home," he says as she reaches the base of the stairs and he
gives her a kiss on the lips.
"I'm glad you're home too," she
replies to him as their lips part. "How was your day?"
"It's
been long," he tells her. "I haven't heard anything on Stacey yet, so
I'm worried about her. I'll have to head back over to the hospital first thing
in the morning. How was your day?"
"It was
eventful,"
she admits to him. "I'll have to tell you about it."
"I'd
love that," he tells her. "But first, I have a surprise for you. And,
I can't wait any longer to give it to you."
"A surprise?"
she asks him with a grin on her face. "What is this all about, Mac?"
"Follow me," Mac replies to her as he grabs her hand and they walk
up the stairs together.
"You have peaked my curiosity," Celeste
smiles back to him as they reach the top of the staircase.
As he walks
with her down the hallway, he looks at her. "You've given me such a gift
with this baby," he tells her as they stop at a door. "And, so this
is my gift to you."
He opens the door and she looks inside and gasps
a little. A nursery is being decorated for her baby; but right now, there are
50 bouquets of flowers, all addressed to her.
"What is all this?"
she asks as she walks into the room.
"Well, the flowers are for
you," he tells her with a smile on his face. "And, this room, this will
be the nursery. I've asked one of the best interior designers in Colorado to work
on this with you. Of course, more detail will emerge once we find out if we are
having a boy or girl. But I wanted to show you what I have planned for you."
"You're the sweetest man in the world," she wraps her arms around
him and kisses him on the lips.
"You deserve this my love,"
he tells her as their lips part. "Look at some of this stuff; I've already
got so much baby stuff that we need."
He looks over at the dresser
and grabs a baby monitor. "Like this, we could be downstairs in the living
room and we can hear the baby when he or she is sleeping!"
"Are
you thinking what I am thinking?" she purses her lips together.
"No, what?" he laughs back to her.
"We have to try these
things out!" she laughs. "Go down stairs and tell me if you can hear
me?"
Mac laughs back to her. "Thank you," he tells her
as he moves up to her.
"For what?"
"Making me
laugh," he says. "I needed it today."
"You're welcome,"
she replies to him. "But I wasn't joking. Go downstairs!"
***
The next morning, Cole opens the door to Stacey's hospital room and moves
inside quickly. He wanted to see his sister again because he, like everyone in
the family, is desperate for Stacey to come out of her coma. The longer she stays
asleep, the more they worry that she will never wake up.
He sits next
to her and grabs her hand. "Good morning Stace," he whispers. "I
was hoping I'd arrive today and you'd be awake. No such luck, huh?"
He watches his sister and there is no movement. "I didn't sleep so well last
night," he admits to her. "I kept thinking about you and Celeste and
the baby. There's too much going on right now, and I just
" he pauses
as he struggles to find the words to say to her. "I need you to wake up.
I need my sister, Stacey."
As he holds her hand, he suddenly feels
it twitch inside his grip. He looks up and looks at his sister. "Stacey?"
he asks as he stands up, seeing her eyes start to flutter. "Stacey? Can you
hear me? Stacey?"
He watches in amazement as Stacey opens her eyes
slowly. "Oh my!" he says with a grin on his face. "Stacey, you're
awake! Thank God! I've missed you so much!"
***
"This is the best news I've had in a long time," Mac announces
to his family, who has all gathered in the waiting room of the hospital after
Cole called home and revealed that Stacey had opened her eyes. Dr. Chen is in
with her now, so they are waiting to hear some news about her condition. But,
her eyes are open, so they are all hopeful.
"I couldn't agree more,"
Lydia tells everyone. "It's like our prayers have finally been answered."
"I'd like to know what is taking Dr. Chen so long," Mac says to
everyone. "I want to go and see my daughter and see for myself that she is
okay."
"She was in a coma for a while," Lex reminds him.
"I'm sure that we will be the first ones to know that she is okay."
"Where is Celeste this morning?" Cole asks Mac, noticing that she
isn't at the hospital. Lydia shoots him a quick look, realizing that Cole shouldn't
be asking about Celeste at all.
"She was tired; I told her I would
give her an update a little later on," Mac tells him. "The pregnancy
is making her suffer from morning sickness."
Lydia rolls her eyes.
"Because, she's the first woman to ever carry a child?"
"Mother,
enough," Lex puts Lydia in her place. "We are here because Stacey is
awake. We don't need to have this pity fighting."
Before anyone
can say anything else, Dr. Chen emerges in the waiting room. "Dr. Chen,"
Mac moves up to the doctor. "How is she? How is my daughter?'
"She's
very lucky," Dr. Chen replies. "I want her to stay in the hospital for
a couple more days, but this is a very good sign. I do believe that she will make
a full recovery."
"Thank God," Lydia breathes a sigh of
relief. "I want to see my daughter."
"Of course,"
Dr. Chen tells her. "Just not for too long. She needs her rest."
"Thank you Dr. Chen," Mac smiles back to him as he shakes his hand.
***
Mac
opens the door to Stacey's room and quickly moves inside and up next to his daughter,
who is looking back at him.
"Oh
my beautiful girl," Mac says as he grabs her hand. "I am so glad to
see those beautiful eyes. I have been so worried about you."
Stacey
opens her mouth to say something back to Mac, but he stops her. "Sshh,"
he says, caressing her face. "There's plenty of time for talking. I want
you to get your rest. I don't want you to over extend yourself. You've been through
a lot, just know that I love you so much. And, I am so grateful that you have
come back to us."
Stacey
smiles back to her father before her eyes close again and she falls back asleep.
Mac leans up and kisses his daughter's forehead, thrilled that she has finally
come back to him.
"Get
some rest my love," he whispers to her. "I'll be back tomorrow. I want
to go home and tell Celeste the wonderful news."
***
Cole opens the front door to the mansion and moves inside. He couldn't wait
to tell Celeste about Stacey's condition, so he left the hospital and came right
home. He knows that Mac will want to tell Celeste, but Mac will probably be at
the hospital for a while, so he will do the honour.
"Celeste?"
he calls out, but he doesn't hear a response. He recalls how Mac told him that
Celeste was suffering from morning sickness, so he thinks that maybe she is upstairs.
He moves to the staircase and quickly walks up the stairs.
As he moves
towards the master bedroom, he sees the nursery door open and Celeste is standing
inside. "Celeste," he calls out as he moves into the room. "I'm
glad I found you."
"Cole? Is everything okay? What's happened?"
she asks him, not used to him rushing after her.
"Everything is
fine," he admits to her. "Better than fine."
"What's
happened?"
"It is Stacey, she is awake! My sister, she came
out of her coma!"
"Oh Cole!" Celeste smiles back to him
as she rushes into his arms and hugs him.
Downstairs, Mac opens the door
and moves into the mansion. He knew that he had to see Celeste to give her the
good news about Stacey waking up. He quickly moves into the living room, thinking
that is where his wife will be.
He doesn't see her and is about to turn
around to leave when he hears Celeste's voice on the baby monitor.
"I'm
so happy for you," Celeste says to Cole.
"I know, me too,"
Cole replies to her, as they exit their embrace.
"Why did you come
to tell me this and not Mac?"
"I wanted to tell you, I couldn't
wait to share some good news," he admits to her, as Mac picks up the monitor
in the living room of the mansion, listening to the conversation between his son
and wife. "It's been too long since we had good news to share. And, Mac wanted
to see Stacey before he left the hospital."
"This baby is good
news."
"Yes, it is," Cole admits to her. "But we
both know why it might not be good news."
Mac arches his eyebrow
as he listens to the conversation carry on from the living room. "Cole, I
told you, we have to forget that night ever happened."
"I've
been trying Celeste, honestly, I have been," Cole admits to her. "But,
every time I close my eyes, I see us together. That night was amazing, and you
know it."
"We have to stop this," she whispers back to
him. "We have to forget that we ever slept together, Cole. There is no other
choice."
In the living room, Mac sets the baby monitor down, having
just heard his wife and son confess their affair together. He sets it down and
moves over to the bar and pours himself a double scotch, trying to get his head
around everything he is hearing from his wife and son.
