"Has
anyone had the chance to see Nathan yet?" Cole Rockwell asks Mac and Lucinda
Rockwell as they stand together in the waiting room of the hospital while his
siblings, Stacey and Lex Rockwell hover nearby. Cole, Stacey and Lex rushed to
the hospital in the morning once they heard that their uncle, Nathan Lockhart,
had awoken from his coma, which he fell into after he was shot.
"Not
yet," Lucinda looks back at her grandson. "The doctor wanted to wait
until he was fully awake before doing an examine on Nathan. Once that is complete,
we should be able to see him."
"You must be relieved, Nana,"
Lex moves up to her and hugs Lucinda. "You have been so worried about Nathan."
"You have no idea," Lucinda exhales heavily. "I just hope
that we can start to move on from this heartache. This is a time for the family
to heal."
"I am hoping that Nathan can tell us who did this
to him," Mac looks at his family. "We need to know who shot him so we
can make the person or persons pay. We have been put through the ringer with this
assault on our family."
"I couldn't agree more," Lucinda
looks back at Mac.
"I just hope that Nathan is well enough to identify
the shooter," Stacey replies to her family. "I just hope that they weren't
wearing a mask or that it was a random break in."
"I don't
think it was random," Lex tells her. "Nothing was stolen, so it wouldn't
make sense that it was random."
Before anyone can say anything else,
detective Helena Grant moves into the waiting room. She clears her throat which
causes the Rockwell family to turn and face the police officer.
"Detective,
what brings you by this morning?" Mac asks her as she moves up to them.
"I was here to ask Lucinda some questions," Helen admits to the
family as she moves closer to them. "However, I was able to see Nathan earlier.
I just came from his room."
"What?" Lucinda grasps back
to her. "The doctor wanted to examine my son before anyone saw him! How did
you get in there?"
Helena shrugs her shoulders back to her. "I
went in when I saw him awake and alert," she reveals to them. "I wanted
to ask him if he knew who shot him."
"Did he know who shot
him?" Cole asks her quickly. "Was he able to tell you who the assailant
is?"
"He did," Helena tells him. "I'm here to make
a formal arrest."
The Rockwell's look at one another in surprise
while Helena starts to remove her handcuffs. "MacKenzie Rockwell, you are
under arrest for the attempted murder of Nathan Lockhart
"
"I didn't do this," Mac looks at his family in a panic before he locks
his eyes with Lucinda. "Mother, I didn't do this! I didn't shoot Nathan!"
***
A short time later, Sabine Andrews quickly moves closer to Nathan's
hospital room door. She, along with Lucinda, got word that the doctor finished
his exam of Nathan, so she is the first one that is going to be able to see him
since he woke up. She, like the rest of the family, is rattled that Nathan has
seemingly identified Mac as his shooter.
"Nathan, it's me, it's
Sabine," she tells him as she sits next to him and grabs his hand. "Can
you hear me, Nathan?"
Her fiancé's eyes slowly open and he
struggles to focus before he looks at Sabine. "Saabiinnne," Nathan stutters
back to her.
"Shhh, don't try to talk," Sabine whispers him
back to him. "You need to stay focus on getting better, Nathan. I was so
worried about you, I'm so glad that you're awake and going to be okay."
"I
.I
looooove you."
Sabine smiles to Nathan.
"I love you too, Nathan," she squeezes his hand. "The police have
arrested Mac. I need you to be honest with me, okay? Did Mac really shoot you?
Is Mac responsible."
Nathan slowly nods his back to her. "Yyessssss,"
he manages to back to her. "Maccccc shottttt meeeeee."
Sabine
feels the blood drain from her face as she realizes that Mac did shoot Nathan.
Why would Nathan, in this current state, lie about who shot him?
"Okay,
okay," Sabine gulps heavily back to him. "You get some rest and I'll
be here when you wake up again, okay?"
Nathan nods back to her as
his eyes close again. Sabine puts her hand on her stomach as she thinks about
her unborn child; Mac could be the father and he has been identified as the man
who shot Nathan, the other possible candidate as the father of her child.
"What a mess this is," she whispers to herself. "What a complete
mess."
***
"You have a hell of a lot of nerve,"
a furious Quinn Cunningham moves up to the bar at the country club, where she
spies Dyhannah Cooper about to take a sip of her cocktail that is in front of
her. Quinn is furious with Dyhannah as she, and Chase Cooper, interrupted her
wedding to Deacon Cooper, Dyhannah's son, with the news that Marat Kafelinkov,
not Deacon, is the father of Quinn's unborn child. "How dare you come into
my wedding the other day and spread your lies about Marat and I!"
Dyhannah chuckles back to her. "You would best to watch your tone with me
little girl," Dyhannah replies to her. "No one, and I mean no one, speaks
to me that way."
"I don't care about that," Quinn shakes
her head. "You don't scare me! But you, you should watch your back. I won't
take this lightly, Dyhannah."
"You spread your legs to any
man that showed you any interest," Dyhannah replies to her. "It's not
my fault that I happened to tell Deacon about your indiscretions before he married
you."
"You have no proof that Marat is the father of this child,"
she hisses back to her. "In fact, I know that Deacon is the father. So, this
little interruption is just that, an interruption. Deacon and I will have the
future that we planned on before you and Chase broke up our wedding. And, there's
not a damn thing that you can do to stop us."
"Just watch me,"
Dyhannah smiles back to her. "You will marry my son over my dead body."
"Careful old woman," Quinn glares back to her. "Because that
can be arranged."
"Don't you dare threaten me," Dyhannah
stands up from her chair and inches closer to Quinn. "You are messing with
the wrong woman, Quinn. You have no idea what I'm capable of. If you're not scared,
you should be. Very scared."

"I got here as soon
as I could, what is going on?" Dane Ashby asks Lucinda as he moves into the
waiting room of the hospital and sees Lucinda pacing back and forth. "It's
not Nathan, is it? He's not
"
"Dead?" Lucinda looks
at her former lover. "No, my son is alive and awake."
"Thank
God," Dane replies to her. "I know how worried you've been about him."
"The police paid Nathan a visit," Lucinda reveals to Dane. "They
asked him who shot him."
"That's good?" Dane shrugs his
shoulders back to her. "That means the person responsible can start to pay
for what they've done."
"You don't understand, Dane,"
Lucinda looks at him with intent. "Levi, he claimed that Mac shot him. The
police officer, this Detective Grant, arrested Mac and dragged him to the police
station."
"My God," Dane gasps back to her. "I know
that Mac and Nathan hate each other, but I can't imagine Mac putting a couple
of bullets in Nathan."
"That's because he didn't do it,"
Lucinda tells him. "We have to figure out how to get the truth from Nathan
and we have to do it now before Mac goes to jail for something he didn't do."
***
Mac paces back and forth in a holding room at the police station.
He can't believe that he has been arrested for shooting Nathan because he didn't
shoot his half-brother. He runs his hand through his hair as he wonders why Nathan
would have claimed that he shot him.
"He wants revenge," he
whispers to himself. "He still thinks that I killed Slate, so he wants me
to pay. That son of a bitch!"
Before he can say anything else, the
door opens and Chase Cooper appears. "Mac, I came as soon as I heard that
you were arrested."
"Chase? What are you doing here?"
Mac asks him in confusion.
"I am not sure if you know this,"
Chase looks back at him. "But I studied law before I was a politician. Once
I heard that you were arrested, I came to offer my legal services for you."
"You have no idea how much I appreciate that," Mac admits to him.
"I will take you up on this offer, Chase. The first thing that you need to
know is that I did not shoot Nathan; I didn't shoot my half-brother."
"I figured as much," Chase tells him as he sits down in one of
the chairs. "Let's start the at the beginning. Tell me everything, Mac. I'm
going to need all the information on this feud between you and Nathan if I am
going to get these charges dropped."
***
"So, Nathan
woke up? How is he doing?" Celeste Baldwin asks Cole as they sit across from
one another in the country club. Once Celeste got a text from Cole telling her
that Nathan came out of his coma, she agreed to meet him for breakfast as she
is curious to hear about how her boss is doing. She was trying to get information
herself, but as she is not family, the hospital wouldn't rely any information
to her. And, the previous day Sabine told Celeste to stay away from Nathan.
"The doctor was just about to do a full exam when I left to come see
you," Cole replies to his lover. "But I am guessing that it is good
that he is awake."
"It has to be a good sign," Celeste
tells him as she picks up her coffee and takes a sip of it. "I guess we can
all start worrying about if he will pull through or not."
"I
suppose so."
"Did Nathan happen to tell anyone about his shooter?
Does he know who did this to me?" Celeste nervously asks him as she sets
her coffee cup down.
"He did," Cole reveals to her as Celeste
looks up with worry on her face. "He claimed Mac did this. My father was
arrested for shooting Nathan."
"What?" Celeste gasps back
to him shock. "Why would Nathan claim that Mac shot him?"
"I
have no idea," Cole tells her quickly. "But my Dad is in a lot of hot
water now, and I don't know what is going to happen next."
Celeste
picks up her coffee cup and takes a sip of her coffee while a sly grin creeps
across her face.
***
"Good, you're all here," Lucinda
says as she moves into the living room of the Rockwell mansion and sees Cole,
Stacey, Lex and Lydia Rockwell all standing in the living room.
"Your
message made it seem important," Lydia tells her former mother in law. "The
children have already filled me in on Mac's arrest. I can't believe it."
"None of us can," Lucinda shakes her head back to him. "The
bottom line is that we have to help Mac get out of his situation. We all know
damn well that he didn't shoot Nathan."
"What can we do, Nana?"
Lex asks his grandmother. "What can we do to make sure Dad doesn't' go to
jail for this?"
"Whatever it takes," Lucinda tells him.
"And that goes for all of us. Whatever Mac and his legal team tell us to
do, we must do it. We can't allow Mac to go to jail for this because we know he
didn't do it."
"The question I want an answer to," Lydia
says to her family. "Is why did Nathan identify Mac as the shooter when he
knows it's a lie? Why would he allow the real shooter to get away with this?"
"It's because Nathan hates Dad, he always has," Cole grits his
teeth together. "We know why Nathan has done this; he wants Dad to pay because
he still thinks Dad killed Slate."
"It doesn't matter the motive,"
Lucinda yells back to him. "We have to end this damn feud once and for all."
"I'm afraid the only way to end this feud," Stacey uneasily looks
back at Lucinda. "Was for Nathan to die from her injuries. The fact that
he survived means he's going to continue to go after Dad; him claiming Dad shot
him is proof of that. So, I agree with you, Nana, we must help Dad, but we have
to realize that Nathan is going to stop at nothing until Mac has suffered."
Lucinda gulps heavily back to her as she wonders how she can solve this riddle
of the feud between her two sons. Before anyone can respond to anything, Lucinda's
cell phone starts to ring.
She moves to the sofa and grabs her purse
and pulls out her cell phone. "Lucinda Rockwell," she says into her
phone. "What? Why in the hell did you guys make that decision? It is the
most idiotic idea I've ever heard
" she sighs to the person she's talking
to. "Yes, well, thanks for nothing."
"What was that all
about?" Lex asks her as Lucinda hangs up the phone.
"It was
the head of the board at Rockwell Mining," she reveals to everyone. "This
situation just went from bad to worse."
"Why? What's happened?"
Lydia asks her.
"They've appointed Carmen Santos as CEO while Nathan
is in the hospital."
"Carmen? Why?" Stacey gasps in shock
at the news.
"She is technically the next of kin," Lucinda
tells them. "She married Slate, who died, who is Nathan's son and now Nathan
is in the hospital."
"That woman can't be trusted as we all
know," Cole rolls his eyes to his family. "We have to make sure she
doesn't destroy the company while she's leading it."
***
A short time later, Cole steps off the elevator at Rockwell Mining and makes a
beeline for the main office. After learning that Carmen has been appointed as
the CEO of the company, he raced over because he needed to ensure that she doesn't
do anything that will hurt Rockwell Mining. The last thing that he needs is for
his former stepmother to do something that will create more chaos in their lives.
"You're here early this today," Cole announces to Carmen, who is
already sitting behind the large desk in the office.
Carmen looks up
and wonders what Cole wants. "I am running this company, in case you hadn't
heard. So yes, I am here early. I have a million things to do today."
Cole chuckles back to her. "I am sure that you do," he replies
to her quickly. "Might I ask what those things entail?"
"Last
I checked, you stopped working here when Nathan took over, is that correct?"
"It is correct," Cole sighs back to her as he recalls how he pretended
to quit working at the company because he didn't believe that Nathan would allow
him to know what was truly happening with the company, so he dressed up and pretended
to be Richard Coleman. Celeste figured out that he was impersonating another person
and that's when they reunited as he didn't want her to tell Nathan the truth.
"But the fact remains, Carmen, it is my family name on the company. I care
about what happens here."
Carmen chuckles back to him. "Well,
don't worry. I have big, big plans for this company. I'm going to take it in directions
that no one will ever see coming."
Cole nervously looks back at
her. "Carmen, I'm going to say this to you, and I mean it with the best intentions,"
he tells her with intent. "Do not do anything that will ruin this company."
Carmen grins back to him. "Don't worry Cole," she looks back at
him. "As CEO, the last thing I would ever do is ruin this company. After
all, my beloved Slate was going to take over one day. And, I would do nothing
that would hurt him or his reputation."
***
A short time
later, Carmen looks around the outside of Nathan's hospital room and doesn't see
any Rockwell's, so she opens the door and moves inside. She pauses when she sees
her father in law laying in his bed. Instantly, she is taken back to the day before
Nathan was shot.
[FLASH]
"So, what are your plans? You want
to stay here? You know, Slate isn't coming back."
Carmen feels her eyes
swell with water. "I'm still his wife, Nathan," Carmen reminds him.
"I know that he is dead, but damnit, I loved him."
"He deserved
better than a street rat like you," Nathan takes a sip of his brandy. "I
don't mean to be rude, Carmen, but my son could have done a hell of a lot better
for a wife."
"How dare you," Carmen says as she slaps him across
the face. "You will not speak to me that way, Nathan! Slate loved me, so
much so that he married me. So you better get used to the fact that I am a member
of this family, whether you damn well like it or not!"
[END OF FLASH]
"You were so cruel," Carmen whispers to him as she moves closer
to his bed. "I guess, in some ways, you got what you deserved."
Nathan's eyes slowly start to open and he immediately coughs a little when
he sees Carmen standing in front of him. "Wwwwhat arrrrre yoooooou dooooooing
here?"
Carmen purses her lips together. "Is that anyway to
greet your daughter in law?" she asks him as she sits on the edge of his
bed. "I came to see how you are, Nathan. I heard that you will make a full
recovery. What a pity, huh?"
"Yoooooou shhhhhhouldddddd leeeeeaave!"
Carmen chuckles back to him. "Fine, I'll go. You look like you need
your rest anyways. But, do me a favor? And, don't get better. If you die, I get
everything I want."
Nathan's eyes open wider in horror. "I
knooooow," he whispers to her. "I knooooow evvvvvverythinnnnng."
Carmen winks back to him."You heard? I am the CEO of Rockwell Mining,
and Nathan, I have no intention of ever giving up that position. Not now, not
ever."

Kent storms into the main office at Blackmore
Ltd. and throws an envelope down on the desk, which causes Lydia to look up at
him in surprise.
"Kent, good morning, darling," Lydia slowly
stands up and looks at her estranged husband. "What do I owe the pleasure
of this visit? Can I get you a drink?"
"Save the pleasantries,"
he huffs back to her. "You know damn well why I'm here."
"Am
I to believe that this envelope has the documentation that will transfer ownership
of Blackmore Ltd to me?" Lydia asks him as she tries to hide her excitement.
"They are," Kent glares back to her. "Along with annulment
papers. I want those signed immediately, Lydia."
"What's the
rush Kent?" she asks him as she pours herself a brandy at the bar. "Eager
to get back in bed with my daughter? Oh wait, you don't need to divorce me to
do that."
"Shut up," Kent yells back to her. "Sign
the Goddamn papers so we can end this shame of a marriage once and for all."
"Don't worry," Lydia turns and smiles to him. "I'll sign them
because I don't want to be married to you either. And, I'm going to get what I
really want: Blackmore Ltd."
"Ugh, this is disgusting, I can't
stomach the sight of you," Kent says as he turns to leave the office.
"Oh Kent," Lydia calls out which causes Kent to turn back and look
at her. "Tell Stacey mummy says hello."
"Go to hell,"
Kent huffs back to her he leaves the office while Lydia takes a long sip of her
brandy.

Deacon slowly moves down the stairs of the country
club and freezes when he sees Marat Kafelinkov sitting at the bar with a scotch
in front of him. He sighs heavily at the sight of the man that might have got
Quinn pregnant. He finds himself moving up to Marat and sitting next to him.
"Looks like you read my mind," Deacon says as he chuckles to Marat.
"I could use a drink."
Marat looks at Deacon before he looks
at the bartender and nods to him. "I'll get your first one," Marat tells
him. "My way of saying I'm sorry for your parents interrupting your wedding."
Deacon chuckles back to him. "That wasn't your fault."
"No, it wasn't," Marat tells him. "But had Quinn and I been honest
about our previous relationship, they wouldn't have had reason to stop your wedding."
"They would have stopped it with information that you could be the father
of Quinn's baby," Deacon admits to him as he takes a sip of his drink. "They
have no proof that you're the father. And, we don't have proof that I am the father
either."
"I feel like there's only one logical solution to
all of this," Marat looks back at Deacon. "We have to get Quinn to take
a paternity test. We all need to know the truth about this."
"I
agree," Deacon nods back to him. "A toast? To getting to the truth?"
Marat clicks his glass and takes a sip of his scotch. "To the truth."

"Chase Cooper is going to represent Mac, which is a very
good thing," Lucinda tells Dane as they stand in the waiting room of the
hospital. "I just got off the phone with him; he had a good meeting with
Mac."
"How good?" Dane asks her quickly. "Has he
been able to these charges dropped against our son?"
"Not yet,"
Lucinda shakes her head back to him. "But he said that he will be able to
fight them. He thinks he can build a strong enough case to get Mac off."
"Thank God, but I hope he's right. Mac can't go to jail for something
we all know that he didn't do."
"I couldn't agree more,"
Lucinda tapes her finger on her chin, wondering what her next move should be.
"I have to do something to solve this, I have too."
"What
can we possibly do other than hope Nathan comes to his senses and tells the truth
about who shot him?" Dane asks her quickly. "And help Chase with his
defense in Mac's case?"
"I don't know yet," Lucinda admits
to him. "But there has to be something we can do. I can't just let this sit
and hope it all plays out accordingly. I must take action. The question is, what
do I do."

The hospital room door slowly opens, and
a figure moves inside Nathan's room. The figure moves up to Nathan and sits down
next time while grabbing his hand. With their other hand, they remove the large
hood from the jacket off their head, revealing Celeste's face. She knew that Sabine
would be upset if she knew that she was there, so she had to make sure that no
one else saw that she was coming to see Nathan.
"Celesssste,"
Nathan stutters as he opens his eyes and sees her sitting next to him.
"Yes, it's me," Celeste looks back at him. "Try not to talk, okay?
You need to rest, Nathan. But I couldn't stay away. I had to see you. I've been
so worried about you."
Nathan squeezes her hand back while they
lock eyes. "After everything we went through together, I am just so glad
that you will be okay. And don't worry, I haven't told anyone our secret, okay?"
Nathan slowly nods back to her. "Thannnnnnk youuuuu," he tells
he
Celeste feels her eyes swell with water as she looks at Nathan. "I
love you too," she whispers back to him. "More than you'll ever know."

Cole moves into the living room of the Rockwell Mining and sees
Sabine standing at the bar pouring herself a drink. Cole wonders how his Aunt
is doing with everything that has happened to Nathan. He also realizes that he
could use a drink after his visit to Rockwell Mining and Carmen.
"Sabine,
hi," Cole announces to her, as she looks over her shoulder and sees her nephew
approach her. "What are you pouring?"
"Just some water,"
Sabine replies to him. "Can I get you something stronger?"
"I'd love one," Cole admits to her as he sits on the sofa and puts his
feet up on the coffee table. "I just came from Rockwell Mining; Carmen is
planning to 'take the company in new direction's', whatever that means."
"I don't think she will do anything to purposely hurt Rockwell Mining,"
Sabine tells him as she moves to the sofa and passes him a brandy. "After
all, what else does she have? She lost Mac, she lost Mateo, she lost Slate
"
"Don't you dare make me feel bad for her," Cole chuckles to her
before he takes a sip of his brandy. "What is the latest with Nathan?"
"He's about the same," Sabine replies to him. "He's awake
but still weak. Did you know that I caught Celeste at the hospital?"
"She has been worried about Nathan," Cole tells her. "She
still feels like she owes Nathan a lot for giving her a second chance after she
got out of jail."
"I know you and Celeste have gotten close
again," Sabine looks back at him. "But I have to tell you, I don't trust
her."
Cole suddenly thinks back to how odd Celeste has reacted to
the news of Nathan's shooting and wonders if there is more to his lover than meets
the eye.
"What is it, Cole? You suddenly went pale?" Sabine
observes to him.
"It's nothing," Cole lies to her. "I
just think Celeste is going through a hard time, like all of us are. We should
try to go easy on her."
"I can't," Sabine admits to him.
"There's something about Celeste that isn't sitting right with me and I have
to trust my instincts on her."

Quinn moves down the
stairs of the Rockwell mansion towards the foyer. She is so grateful that Sabine
has allowed her to move into the mansion as she gets closer to her delivery date.
She likes knowing that she has a place for her, and her child have a place to
stay, especially a lavish place like the Rockwell mansion.
She is about
to move towards the living room, but she looks at the front door when she hears
the doorbell ring. She moves to the door and opens it. She looks in surprise when
she sees both Marat and Deacon outside.
"Marat? Deacon?" Quinn
asks them. "What is this? What's going on?"
"Believe it
or not," Deacon tells as they move into the foyer. "We ran into each
other at the country club and we got to talking."
"Oh God,
what about?"
"The baby," Marat points to her stomach.
"It's time that we all know the truth about who fathered the baby, Quinn.
We want, no we need, to know the truth."
Quinn gulps back at them
before she nods to them. "You're right," she tells them. "It's
time everyone knows that Deacon fathered this child. It is the only way to get
Dyhannah and Chase off my back about this. So yes, I agree. Let's get a paternity
test."

Lydia steps out of the elevator at Rockwell
Mining and quickly walks towards the main office of the company. She opens the
door and gets a sly grin on her face when she sees Carmen sitting behind the desk.
"I hear congratulations is in order," Lydia announces as she closes
the door and moves closer to the desk.
Carmen uneasily looks back at
Lydia and wonders what she wants as she knows that they have never truly gotten
along. "I'm not sure what we are celebrating, Lydia."
"Why,
your promotion to the CEO position, of course," Lydia purses her lips together.
"Women in business, like you and I, we have to stick together."
"You're in business? I know you've dabbled in business by working at
Rockwell and Blackmore before, but I thought you had, uh, retired?"
Lydia chuckles back to her. "I am not of retirement age, sweetie," she
replies to her. "In fact, like you, I am about to take over Blackmore Ltd."
Carmen looks back at her in surprise. "You are? How did that happen?"
"That's not important," Lydia informs her. "What is important,
is that you and I, as women in control, take lead of these companies and make
a big, bold move."
"I, actually, was thinking of the same thing."
"Really?" Lydia replies to her as her eyes sparkle with excitement.
"Good, then you'll love what I'm here to do, which is give you a proposal.
And when I'm done, I hope you'll realize that this proposition will have both
of our names, and our companies, in the headlines for weeks, no months, to come."

Lucinda opens the door to Nathan's hospital room and moves inside.
She immediately moves up to his bedside and sits next to him. She takes a deep
breath as she looks at her son, still furious with him for indicating that Mac
is the one who shot him. She knows that Mac would not have put a bullet in his
half-brother, no matter how much they were fighting with one another.
"This is a complete disaster," Lucinda whispers to a sleeping Nathan.
"You blamed Mac for Slate's death, which was uncalled for you. You were so
hell bent on revenge, you claimed you wanted to kill Cole. To think that you wanted
to kill my grandson, your own nephew, Levi? That is insane! And now, you are claiming
that Mac shot you, which I know is a lie Levi."
She caresses her
son's face for a moment before she looks at him with intent. "I didn't want
it to come to this, Levi, but this feud, it has to end. We have to put this all
behind us and move on."
***
A short time later, Sabine
is sitting next to Nathan in his hospital room. She is watching him sleep, as
she continues to hope and pray that he wakes up again and continues to get better.
"Do you remember what I told you the night you were shot?" she
asks him as she squeezes his hand. "I told you that I was pregnant, Nathan.
I'm going to have your baby; that's why, I need you to get better. I can't raise
this child on my own. My God, this child needs a father. You have to continue
to get better, Nathan."
Before she can say anything else, a nurse
opens the door to the hospital room and moves inside to start checking Nathan's
vitals.
"Nurse," Sabine looks over at the young woman. "He's
been asleep for some time. Earlier in the day, he was awake and alert. Do we know
why he hasn't woken up yet?"
"He needs his rest," the
nurse replies to her. "He's been through a very traumatic event, the more
he rests, the better he will become."
"Okay," Sabine purses
her lips back together. "As long as there is nothing wrong."
Before the nurse can say anything, the monitors that are connected to Nathan start
beeping rapidly. Sabine's eyes open wider in horror as she looks at Nathan, worried
about what is happening with her fiancé.
"What's happening?
What's going on? What's happening to my fiancé?" she asks frantically
as she stands up from the bedside and looks at the nurse.
"He's
gone into shock, I'm going to need you to leave the room," the nurse instructs
her as Sabine slowly moves away from the bed and more medical staff rush into
the room.
"We are losing him!" one of the doctors yells as
they get ready to try to shock Nathan back to life.
"No!" Sabine
cries as she covers her mouth from the back of the hospital room as she sees Nathan
flat line.
"Clear!" The doctor yells as the staff attempt to
shock Nathan back to life, but his heart doesn't start beating again. "It's
over," the doctor says before he looks at the nurse. "Time of death
"
"No!" Sabine cries at the back of the room, devastated by what
she has just witnessed. "Noooooooooo!"
