SEASON FOUR: Tanner was hired by Lex at Blackmore Ltd. to photograph the new jewelry line. He and Lex had an instant attraction and ended up having sex. Brock, who was dating Lex, confronted Tanner, but he told Brock to butt out. Shortly after, Lex asked Tanner and Brock to help him figure out what Kent was up too. Putting their differences aside, Brock and Tanner planted a bug in Kent's penthouse to help Lex. Once Lex uncovered the truth, the three guys had a threesome to celebrate. They were thinking about a three way couple by season's end.

SEASON FIVE: Tanner was devastated by Brock's death following the explosions. Tanner and Lex grieved together. Tanner started giving Lex special tea to "help calm him down". Lex drank the tea non-stop. Tanner was then revealed to be working with an alive Odette! Odette was desperate to get revenge on the Rockwell's, so she got Tanner to do her dirty work. She told Tanner that Celeste was pregnant with Marat's child and told him to reveal the truth. Knowing that he had to keep his name out of it, Tanner told Vivian the truth. Odette then instructed Tanner to get Stacey to start drinking more. With Lex spending more time at work and with Toby, Tanner met Grant and they ended up in bed together. They started working together to get money from Odette for Tanner's jobs so they could start a new life together. Houston followed Tanner and saw him with Grant. Then Stacey saw Tanner's burner phone with Garrett's number on it. Tanner witnessed Lex and Toby sleeping together, however he only saw Lex! Turns out the tea he was giving Tanner was drugged and Toby was a figment of Lex's imagination! Tanner and Grant decided to skip town, but they were arrested. They were released. Tanner skipped town.
